Celiac Diet

Celiac disease may require you to adjust your eating habits and implement a more specific celiac diet. This may not be as difficult as it may seem. The condition is from an inability to digest gluten.

Symptoms often associated with this disorder include:

Diarrhea

Abdominal cramping

Flatulence

Weight loss

Anemia (in Chinese medicine this condition is much more reaching than simply low iron in the blood )

Muscle cramps and spasms

Fatigue

Inflammation

The symptoms described overlap many from other intestinal disorders such as IBS, and is often misdiagnosed as such.

So What is Gluten?

Gluten is a protein found in various grains. Such grains as:

Wheat

Rye

Barley

Sweet rice

Oats (but most people with celiac disease are not bothered by oats)

On a celiac diet plan, these foods are eliminated, sometimes permanently, and sometimes they are rotated in and out of your diet. This is discussed further in food allergy treatments.

There are many reasons why you may develop a problem digesting gluten. One such reason may be from an diagnosed food allergy. Another reason may be from having a damaged intestinal tract. Over use of antibiotics, various drugs, such as the NSAID's, and processed foods can all lead to a condition known as leaky gut syndrome.

This condition must be addressed to repair your ability to digest and absorb nutrients. In addition to adopting a celiac diet, to reduce irritation, you must also enable your body to repair the intestinal walls. Celiac disease can destroy the villi of the small intestines. The longer this occurs the more severe the impact on your health.

When the functioning of the small intestine's villi are impaired, absorption of nutrition is also impaired. In Chinese medicine this is classified as Spleen Qi Deficiency and can impact all aspects of your health. Just like with the IBS Diet you must not only account for strengthening your digestive function, but also your ability to detoxify your body as well. You must nourish your liver too. Choosing a detox program that not only uses a natural colon cleaner, but also cleans and stimulates the liver, kidneys, and lymphatic system may also prove to be beneficial. Do not use harsh laxatives, since they may contribute to stress in the intestinal tract.

If you suffer from celiac disease, a celiac diet may give you relief. If you choose to simply remove the above mentioned foods, keep in mind there are many foods that you may consume, that may have the above ingredients in them. Don't forget to read the labels.

A combination of removing the irritant, discovering any delayed food allergies, maintaining emotional health, controlling stress, detoxifying your body, and nourishing your body may give you long lasting relief.

Relax, its not as difficult as it may seem. Take the first step, start adjusting your diet using the celiac diet suggestions, and the IBS dietary suggestions, and get tested using a metabolic test to see where your imbalances are. Then take steps to correct them. It's not difficult to regain control of your health, you just need to take the first steps, by starting today.
